I'd rather not resort to the 'ol redirect, but this post wound up being a bit too lengthy to replicate here.

Sooooo, lets hop on over to Lovin' Jarful!

Dames, Diners, and Dead Things

New concept, developed for an art test.  I'll cover the process (about a week in duration) in a follow-up post.

Back from the "Not Quite" Dead

To add more vector work to my portfolio, I revisited a concept from an old project. It was to be a side-scrolling beat 'em up in a 3D engine. I produced assets for a prototype stage (seen below), but I had also come up with some enemy designs. This guy was one of them.

At the time, I only had a few sketches of him (which I'll track down and scan), but I always wanted to complete his development. I'm also trying to add more vector work to my portfolio, so I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. I actually have a whole slew of vector stuff from client work, but they're in NDA purgatory.

Fresh Jam. Game Jam!

Marking my second participation in a "Game Jam" session, Empty Jar Productions collaborated with Products for Robots to create the 2D Action-RPG, Geometry Saga. It won best game going on to compete in Mozilla's Game On Competition!

Geometry Saga is an episodic series chronicling two warring factions: Vibrance, the color nation of heart and Pale, the monochrome nation of logic. In the first session, "War of Heart" the Pale nation seeks to overtake Vibrance and seize the power source known as "The Heart."

The gameplay featured in the trailer provides a peek a one of the playable "Vibrance" characters. As developments continues, I'll be providing sprite animation for even more!

Ease on down the road

I got some pretty good headway on the background. The piece as a whole is veeery close to being done.

For A Few Steps More

Here's a look at the prototype background I'm tinkering with.

The end product's going to be an outdoor scene with multiple instances of that light beaming through some trees.

New Animation for the New Year

I hope to put my best foot forward in the new year.

Animated in Photoshop

How better to represent that than with a new walk cycle.

Like my little friend here, I'm gonna keep going 'til I get where I'm going. Hopefully that's not "nowhere." haha

A jar more professional.

Emtpy Jar Productions, LLC now has a wordpress blog.  It has most of the same content as this blog, sans all personal material. There's is some exclusive content, however (like my 3D work). I feel it's necessary to have some motivation to visit one site over another. I think there's some art on my Deviant Art page that I haven't posted here.

The primary goal of the new site is to have a website that's more employer-friendly. It's meant to achieve this in function as well and appearance.  Art is arranged gallery-style, making it easier to see everything together.

There you can also see the latest cut of my 30 sec Animation reel. For convenience, I've uploaded it here.

Aztec Comic Page 2

I started blocking in some colors and values for the 2nd page. I was going to wait until I'd done some values for the bottom panels, but I went ahead with the post anyway. I'm considering leaving the bottom left panel flat with very minimal values. Most of the page is already so dark so dark.

As you can see, I now have a logo in place for Empty Jar. It's kinda of a prototype, but It'll do for now.
